Like TiVo itself, I love this remote! I thought about just programming my learning remote, but this is for a second unit and I prefer the familiarity of the remote layout. Plus, it has the ability to learn (via remote to remote) AV or TV volume, mute, TV power and input commands. The learning function is even menu driven via your TiVo. My TiVo Series 3 already came with one of these and I love it. There are slight differences between my old S3 remote and this one though: the backlight is blue now instead of orange, the silver trim is now more matte than chrome, there is no more toggle switch for two TiVo units (don’t care), there are now 4 color-coded buttons (haven’t figured out what they’re for- super-short manual doesn’t mention them), and it now uses 2 ‘AA’ batteries instead of 4 ‘AAA’. That last part makes the newer version feel much lighter- I actually like the heavy feel of the older remote. No big deal though. Both remotes have a nice ‘click’ to each button press.
One last thing… if it’s still listed at fo*rty bux, buy it now! I got mine at list price and Amazon has no price protection- just found that out. Sort of bummed but oh well. The remote itself is still worth 5 stars.

This remote is a huge improvement over the remote that comes with the Tivo box. It has better button feel, better quality, and the buttons even light up when you’re using it in a dark room. If your original remote is broken or worn out, or if you just want to upgrade, get this remote control!!!

Ordered this when our original TiVo remote finally fell on the floor one too many times. It doesn’t feel quite as heavy in the hand as the old remote, but other than that it is great. The glowing feature is nice for dimly lit rooms, there are no big changes to the layout to trip you up, and most important to me, I took it out of the box and it worked.

If you have had a problem trying to get the TiVo remote to find the code for the remote to your TV, then this is the solution! We have an RCA that the stock TiVo remote which came with it, just could not find the code and I mean we tried them all and every suggestion that was given to boot. So I bought this TiVoGlo, (named for the fact that it has a neat glowing feature which lights up all the options on the control for about 5 seconds after you press a button), and put it into the “learn” mode and ended my troubles. Note that the instructions say for the 2 remotes to be no more than 4 inches apart when you activate the learning cycles. This was an important factor for us. I didn’t have success until I picked up both remotes, (the sender and the receiver), and held them nose to nose at about 1/2 inch away from each other. The feel of the buttons when you push them is pretty cool too!
